CONSTRUCTING (M. Delago)

represents the story of LRIL, the fusion of the hang & bass clarinet duo ‚Living Room’ with a string trio from London and how their music developed in the early days

LILLA KONTRAST (C. P. Auer)

was written for the first LRIL concert in 2008 and is about words that sound the same in different languages but have distinct meanings.

WITHOUT WORDS (D. Ibbett)

is one of the first pieces commissioned by LRIL. Based on a variety of styles it presents some of the most technically challenging and explorative writing for the ensemble.

INDIAN SANDPAPER (C. P. Auer)

is inspired by the unexpected voyage of Pepe’s bass clarinet through the Himalayas, from the intensity of the crowded and chaotic cities to the serene breathtaking landscapes.

TUBULAR PULP (G. Riddell)

is an attempt to pay homage to music that inspires LRIL including works by Bach, Dick Dale, Ligeti, Mike Oldfield, Radiohead, Paul Simon, J. Strauss II, Stravinksy, Tchaikovsky and Justin Vernon.

RONDO A LA TURK (W. A. Mozart)

is an audience favourite in LRIL’s live set, alongside arrangements of tunes by Miles Davis, The Beatles and Michael Jackson.

RISING BETWEEN THE TRAINS (M. Delago)

was premiered at an extra-ordinary LRIL performance in a tunnel shaft 50ft below the ground. The melody spans the entire range of the ensemble from sonic rumblings to ethereal heights.

ANOTHER SONG (T. Norris)

is a reworking of its original guitar & voice format to fit the more expansive sound of LRIL. The prominent hang part is re- miniscent of Tom’s debut album, recorded in Austria where he and Manu first collaborated.
